Scottish EDGE prepares to invest in high potential businesses in 21st round of awards

 

Scottish EDGE is set to invest a further £1+ million in businesses with high growth potential as the 21st round of awards invites 24 multi-sector finalists to pitch their ideas on the 11th and 12th May.

Having already invested over £22 million in 548 businesses in the past nine years, the live final will welcome back categories including Net Zero EDGE and Circular Economy EDGE, backed by Royal Bank of Scotland and Zero Waste Scotland respectively, and aimed businesses with sustainable and circular practices at their core.

Supported by The Hunter Foundation, the Royal Bank of Scotland, the Scottish Government and Scottish Enterprise, the EDGE awards have a key role to play in facilitating the nation’s economic growth.

Scientific and digital innovation will also be amplified amongst this year’s finalists, with Clearwell Technology’s unique exothermic milling systems, Weeteq’s circuit-level artificial intelligence solutions, and Move4ward’s technology aimed at improving the lives of spinal cord injury patients included on the list.

The 24 finalists will pitch to a panel of business heavyweights, featuring Chief Entrepreneurial Advisor to the Scottish Government, Mark Logan, who will also take part in a fireside chat, Lucinda Bruce-Gardyne of Genius Foods, Mark Scott of Bella & Duke, Senior Executive Leader Yvette Hopkins, Callum Murray of Amiqus, Rashpal Martin of NatWest, serial entrepreneur Craig Samuel, and Jo Nisbet of Harper Macleod.

Day 1 of the event will not be open to the public to attend, but will be live-streamed via the Scottish EDGE website. Day 2 will take place at the Royal Bank of `Scotland Conference Centre, Edinburgh and will consist of the usual mix of pitching, networking and competitions.
